The Mercados of San Telmo

Posted on May 29, 2015 by Daniela Pafundi in VISIT BUENOS AIRES

The colorful and often bizarre markets of San Telmo connect us to the essence of Buenos Aires. With a distinct touch of nostalgia, they speak to the historical personality of the city, as markets were and still are the meeting places of the traditional porteño neighborhood. Local gossip, rumors, stories and jokes are shared over a cup of coffee or mate. The personalities that populate different stands become more interesting than the products for sale. Take a trip with photographer Daniela Pafundi to capture the stories in these colorful corners of San Telmo.
