Daore: Korean BBQ in Floresta

I was having a weird day.  Normally when I go to sleep, I meditate on what I’m going to do the following day.  I think about what time I’m going to wake up.  I see myself making my bed, I choose my outfit in my mind.  I make a mental schedule and then I fall asleep.  One night, I couldn’t think of what was coming the next day.  I didn’t meditate, I just fell asleep.  When I woke up, I was so confused.  What am I supposed to do today?  I felt so directionless, so I just decided to see what the day had planned for me.

Mun was in town and he sent me a message asking if I wanted to go to Floresta.  Floresta is a neighborhood of Buenos Aires that I had never visited.  So I said sure, and off we went on an adventure.  There was danger (lots of robberies in Floresta these days), job propositions, ginseng tea and someone gave me one of those really good melon popsicles.  It was a great adventure, but best of all, we went for Korean food at Daore, at the best place in Floresta and it was DELICIOUS!

Cabbage Kimchi

The shared, family style meal had a variety of small side dishes, like this kimchi.

Korean Pickled Cucumbers

My favorite side dish was this little plate of crunchy, tangy, pickled cucumbers.

Fish Cakes

Oily fish-cake-noodles-no se que, with beautiful colored peppers on top.

Squid with Watercress

Squid with watercress and sesame seeds in a spicy red sauce.

Korean Spicy Tofu Soup

Our main dish was this spicy tofu soup which was amazing!

Loved this seaweed.

We ate it all.  If you’re looking for an excuse to go to Floresta, now you have one.
