Cabaña Las Lilas

Dre and I quickly got settled into our BA vacation schedule.  Wake up at eleven, site-see until three and then tuck into a three hour long lunch.

That’s when the day really got started.  One rainy day I took Dre to Puerto Madero for one of my favorite places to get a steak.

Cabaña Las Lilas is known as one of those ‘tourist trap’ steak shops, with a fairly unauthentic Argentine steak experience.  But I do not care.  I know a good steak when I sink my teeth into it, and this place does not let me down.  It should also be mentioned that their bread basket is beautiful and never ending.

We started with an appetizer sampler:

And chimichuri on bread:

For our main course we split a steak and tried papas soufflé, which were airy, crispy hollow fries.  I always order my steak al punto – or medium.  This picture is half the steak serving – which is why we split the order.

Amazing.  So tender and juicy, I don’t think I can ever go back to my vegetarian ways.   We washed it all down with a glass of 2007 Viña Alicia Paso de Peidra Malbec, selected from their extensive and expensive wine menu.

Ahhh and we were just getting started.  Our plates were cleared, and the dessert menu was presented.  We decided on espresso and tiramisu to split.

The coffee came with a tray of other sweet surprises, which we devoured, leisurely.

And just when you think it couldn’t go on, they finished up the meal with a little grappa or lemoncello.

Ahhh what a meal.  Three and a half hours later, we left the restaurant.  Can’t eat like this often, so we enjoy it while we can!
